The Rail Safety Rule Book modernised: Planning and implementing a successful mobile app

Originating in 1876 the UK’s Rail Safety Standards Board’s (RSSB) Rule Book is an essential safety and procedural reference for the 120,000 staff responsible for operating one of the most intensively used and safest rail networks in the world.

Looking to achieve a Rule Book both easier to use and keep up to date, yet more cost effective for the industry, this case study discusses the highs and lows of moving from Paper and PDF delivery to interactive native mobile app.

This successful project taught us the relative strengths and weaknesses of different approaches and techniques for delivery of structured content to mobile devices.

Content professionals who are considering a mobile delivery strategy or simply how to engage a mobile audience will benefit the from our experiences while implementing this project.
