Can Developers and Engineers Write Their Own Documentation?

I am working with my company engineering team to create their own internal documentation. We are building a contribution system on a stack of developer tools such as GitHub, Continuous Integration and Deployment.

Developers can write documentation in the own environment using Markdown (and even a little bit of mdita).

This content is then aggregated by a map which lets us inject metadata before republishing everything both in Markdown so our geekiest engineers can read docs directly on github and on an external publishing platform.
